Winterise Your Home
Stay warm and cozy during winter without wasting energy and saving your energy bill.
Your home energy checklist for Winter:
Turn down the temperature of your hot water heater to the most comfortable setting.
Install a hot water heater jacket if you don’t already have one. This will save energy and keep your water heater from losing more heat.
Use compact fluorescents vs. standard incandescent light bulbs. These bulbs may cost more but use a fraction of the energy a standard incandescent bulbs uses. Make sure you measure the size of the compact fluorescent bulb to make sure it will fit. Compact Fluorescents
Clean or replace your furnace filter. Your furnace will run more efficiently if properly changed during the heating season. Check your filter throughout the winter season and replace or clean if necessary.
Seal up any air leaks in your home. Air leaks can cost a lot of wasted energy. Check gaps, plumbing utilities, all the little invisible crack and holes may add up to as much as an open window or door, without you even knowing it.
Insulate your hot water pipes wherever they run through unheated areas.
Install a programmable thermostat to automatically control your heating. This is perfect while you are away from home. Programmable Thermostats
Boost air flow to the rooms that need it the most. Consider the Equalizer booster fan to boost air flow up to 80%.
