Radiant Heating

There are several types of radiant heating systems available, including low- and line-voltage electric systems and hydronic floor heating systems.

Under Floor Heating Systems

When heating small areas or under tile, electric heating cable systems make the most sense. The advantages and benefits are far superior to hydronic heating for these types of applications. Electric cable systems are the most efficient, the easiest to install, and the least expensive. Controlled by a thermostat with an in-floor sensor, electric systems are maintenance-free and have the quickest response time.

TILED AREAS
Nothing can describe the sensation of warm tile floors. Radiant floor heating has always been considered a unique luxury. So if you are building a new home or remodeling any of your floors, now is the time to add this luxury. Many of the recent systems we sell can be installed by home owners, including our ComfortTile Heating, QuickNet and BlueHeat systems. For most small areas we prefer using electric radiant heat for cost and ease of installation. These systems offer effective solutions at a competitive price.

EXISTING FLOOR RETROFIT
Radiant heat can now be easily installed underneath existing floors. If you can access your floor joists from below, you are a perfect candidate for the RetroHeat system. Now you can receive the same luxury radiant heat installed in new construction. The RetroHeat system is easy to install for “do-it-yourselfers” or any handyman. The system’s innovative warming panels are cut to their proper length, then stapled in between the floor joists. This great product will provide an elegant heat at an affordable price.

HYDRONIC RADIANT HEATING

Hydronic floor heating is an effective and proven method to produce radiant heat. In new construction or large heating areas, it is difficult to beat the price of a hydronic floor heating system. For remodeling projects or to reduce weight and height concerns of traditional gypcrete applications, ThermalBoard is an excellent low-mass solution. You can now avoid the mess and hassle of adding concrete to your home with a modular board that houses the pex tubing in its proper spacing and pattern. The aluminum top sheet on ThermalBoard acts as a heat-sink to quickly spread the heat. After the ThermalBoard and tubing are installed, you can conveniently add hardwood, carpet, tile, and other floor-coverings directly on top.

  1. My wife and I are trying to decide on either hardwood flooring or a heating system underneath the floors.
We love the dining area where we installed original hardwood floors and stained them ourselves.
Could you tell me if the heating unit that is placed beneath the hardwood floors would help with the homes resale value? We live in Grand Rapids Michigan and the winter has been brutal.

    Thanks

  2. It will be wise to discuss the subject with some local property dealers.
    Thanks for the query.
