Air Purifiers
Air purifier, commonly referred to as air cleaner, are electronic devices. The goal of these electronic devices is to clean the air. This is done by eliminating harmful air contaminants. Air contaminant is another word that is used to describe air particles. No matter what they are called, they could be harmful to your health or to those who visit your home. That is why it is recommended that all homes have an air purifier in them. In fact, in addition to be recommended, some homeowners are actually urged to have an air purifier for their home.
An air purifier, or cleaner, could hold the key to completely change the way you live! Imagine breathing pure and unpolluted air that provides the cells in your body the best intake possible to create a superior lifestyle of health and energy. A purifier can indeed make this possible.
A government study documents that indoor air pollution levels can be as much as five time greater than outdoor levels. Being as most people spend more time indoors than out, this is a basis for serious concern. The pollution stems from things like smoke, dust, fumes, pollen, dander, mites, (and their feces!) and myriad other sources. Most furniture and draperies are treated with flame retardant chemicals. That seems a good thing until you realize that these dangerous substances are constantly leaching out and into the environment; into your skin, into the air and consequently into your lungs and body.
Pets are another source of pollutants, which can irritate humans. No need to live without your pet friends: with an air purifier most, if not all, of the dander and dust can be eliminated. Dust mites, another serious pollution source, live on the skin cells you slough off every second of your life. You lose about 10 million skin cells per day and many of these wind up in your bedding and mattress, for the obvious reason that you spend eight hours or so there every day. This creates a warm environment, with a plentiful food supply for the little critters. They of course, poop there as well. Not to be disgusting, but rather to be clear, you are sleeping in a dust mite sewer.
The mites are everywhere, including floating about in the air you breath. They are microscopic and so is their waste, but have been clearly linked to asthma, sinus irritation, fatigue, sleep disorders and other symptoms. We should all vacuum the mattress and pillows weekly. There are chemicals that can be used to kill mites, but one must obviously choose very carefully so that you don’t create a larger problem of reaction to the chemical.
With an air purifier, you substantially reduce the amount of this material floating about your home and office. You may find those sneezing bouts a thing of the past and you may also routinely sleep better. Clean air is a benefit that is hard to put a price on.
Still, you have to buy a purifier to get the benefits so price is a consideration. It is recommended that you NOT buy the cheapest thing you can find for the simple reason that you will get what you pay for. The really cheap units plainly are not effective and some can even increase the problems. The better units will combine filtration with ionization. Ionizing the air creates a sort of magnetic effect in the air molecules to attract the pollutants and bunch them up. They are then easier to filter out because the collections are larger than the individual molecules.
Watch out for any unit using high voltage to create the ionizing effect as these have been shown to produce an excess of ozone. Look for low voltage filters with a capability of trapping particles of 0.3 microns. Remember to consider the filter replacement cost - how much and how often.
Research carefully to find a suitable filter for your home and get it. You and your family will surely appreciate all that clean air and you all just might live longer because of it. You will certainly live better!
